Heads Above The Rest LLC® is a trusted full service big game taxidermy studio offering big game taxidermy services for over 30 years. We specialize in big game African, North American and European animal taxidermy mounts. We do NOT do birds, fish or small reptiles (however, we DO mount alligators and crocodiles). We are well known for our big game life size taxidermy and our soft realistic cats. A high percentage of the big game animal taxidermy work we do is life size African taxidermy mounts. We can handle any job from small shoulder mounts to large trophy rooms.

Animal Reference Photos

We use animal reference photos (a lost aspect in this trade!) to exceed our client’s expectations here at Heads Above The Rest LLC®. Why do we use animal reference photos? ...so we don’t become "stylized" like many big game taxidermy firms do. We take extra time to replicate the natural animal because we want the trophy we mount to accurately represent the live animal and memorialize your hunting experience.

 

Expert Taxidermy Services

We expertly modify the limited "one-size-fits-all" base commercial taxidermy manikins. For example, all subspecies of sheep are not the same: Red sheep, Kerman sheep, European mouflon, U.S. mouflon, Armenian mouflon, Estahan mouflon, Lasistan mouflon, Himalayan blue sheep, Dwarf blue sheep, Punjab urial, Blanford urial, Trans-Caspian urial, and Afghan urial are all different. Each subspecies have unique characteristics and should not appear to be the same animal with different horns and hair coloration.

Unfortunately, there are only a few manikins on the taxidermy market that are used for ALL these species! A lesser-skilled big game animal taxidermist or high-volume big game taxidermy firm will use the commercial manikins "as-is" to mount all of the animals just named. It takes an award-winning master taxidermist like Heads Above The Rest LLC® to expertly alter the commercial manikin to accurately represent each type of animal and subspecies.

And finally, our finishing techniques are heads above other firms. Each habitat we design is uniquely created to enhance your trophy while not being too big as to overpower the mounts. Our beautiful habitat designs will break down so as to roll through standard size doors if needed.
