Ron Schaefer has been drawing ever since he was a young boy. He never knew why he was always compelled toward art and drawing until he got older, and discovered that his mother illustrated and painted as well. Additionally, he found that his grandfather was an oil painter and painted some amazing landscapes. That’s when Ron realized his artistic gift was "inherited!" Ron likes and thrives with "details and accuracy". He believes it comes from working side by side with his father from a very young age. Ron’s father was a mechanical engineer and designer, and owned a successful machine shop. His father repeatedly instilled in him that "Error Was Not An Option, Only Accuracy Was An Option". Today, Ron’s illustration includes his love of details and accuracy. It also furthers Ron’s passion of African, North American and Exotic wildlife as this is his preferred subject matter to illustrate. Upon viewing his illustrations, you will quickly see all the tiny sketched markings to identify the hair patterns, structure and shadowing of the animals. The act of illustrating an animal requires an artist to study and intensely focus on the animal’s anatomy, hair patterns and skin textures among other details. This creative exercise enhances Ron’s eye for detail which translates to a greater skill set in his primary disciplines; wildlife taxidermy and bronze sculpture. You may have seen Ron's art work displayed or at auction in different locations:
Between Ron’s full time wildlife taxidermy business, his wildlife bronze sculpting and his wildlife drawings, you might say that Ron’s wildlife passion has become more of an obsession. | ||
We hope you'll enjoy seeing more of Ron Schaefer’s wildlife illustrations in his Wildlife Drawings Gallery. |
